Goggles (one clear, one mirrored for swims into the sun)
Swim cap
Race suit
Wetsuit
Body Glide: back of neck, armpits, shorts seams between legs, bike saddle, around timing chip, and nipples (men only)
Sunscreen
Water bottle with water (for sandy feet)
Transition Towel
Stopwatch and/or HR monitor (optional)

Sunglasses (eye protection)
Cycling shoes
Two water bottles (add drink powder the night before but water the day of race so your drink doesn’t taste like plastic during the race)
Rubber bands*
Tire repair kit (CO2 recommended for all tires, spare tire and razor blade recommended for Tubulars)
Bento Box (for food in longer races)
*Optional for more advanced transition technique and requires practice ahead of time. Used to secure shoes in place on bike for faster transition.

Run
Shoes
Race belt or safety pins
Hat (wicking material, excellent to soak with water at aid stations on hot days)

Nutrition
Gels:
1 before race
2-3/hour on bike (weight dependent)
1/hour for run
1 recovery
Water bottles, including 1 post-race recovery bottle
Salt tablets (number dependent on sweat rate, conditions)

Miscellaneous
Electrical tape (secure gels and race numbers to bike)
Spare clothing for after race (temp dependent)
Extra pair of shoes (typically sandals, race shoes will be wet or dirty)
Safety pins
Plastic bag (to pack out wetsuit, etc)
